A formal portrait of Frank and Cora (Demory) Alwine on their wedding day.
Frank Alwine was born March 27, 1868 near North Liberty, Iowa. Cora was born on December 15, 1881 to Edward and Elizabeth (Lucas) Demory in Bell Plaine. In 1900, he and Cora Demory got married at Morse, Iowa and moved to Coralville, where they had a homestead. They had four children, Clarence (b. 1901), Ella (b. 1905), Gertrude (b. 1911) and Dorothy (b. 1914) (Lovetinsky et al., p. 89; Iowa City Press-Citizen, 1958).
Frank spent summer months running a pleasure cruise on the Iowa River. In the winter, he worked at the University Heating Plant, and later, the Coralville Power Plant. He died on November 29, 1921. Cora survived him by almost thirty years, passing on December 8, 1958 (Lovetinsky et al., p. 89).
