The family home of Frank and Cora (Demory) Alwine. The two-storied house was north of Coralville when purchased, but is now addressed 704 First Avenue.
The house came with five acres of land, which the Alwines used to grow vegetables, berries, and other fruits. They sold fresh vegetables in Coralville and Iowa City, and canned produce, as well.
All four Alwine children were born on this Coralville homestead, as were granddaughters Marian, born to Clarence and Alice (McMillan) Alwine; and Marilyn, born to William and Ella (Alwine) Schenider (Lovetinsky et al., p. 89).
