A formal portrait of William Hamilton Bowers and Miriam Reeve on their wedding day. They were married on August 2, 1902.
William H. Bowers was born on July 28, 1877 and was the eldest son of Benjamin and Samantha (Poland) Bowers. Miriam Reeve was born on December 2, 1873 to Richard and Emily (Anthony) Reeve in Sparon, England.
The young couple farmed outside of Tiffin before moving to Oklahoma. They returned to Iowa to a 200 acre farm by the Iowa River in 1917. They had four children: Maynard, E. Virgil (b. 1908), Wilma, and Esther. Another son named Leroy died in infancy.
Miriam died in February of 1953. William remarried to a woman named Minnie Todd on October 19, 1955. He died in April of 1964 (Iowa City Press-Citizen, 1953; Iowa City Press-Citizen, 1964; Lovetinsky et al., p. 91).
