Timothy Marsh Fairchild was born to Timothy Marsh and Sarah Ann (Miller) Fairchild on September 30, 1837 in Brant County, Ontario, Canada. He married Joanna Smith in 1861. They had five children: Henry William (b. 1863), Mary Elvira (b. 1865), Timothy Marsh (b. 1867), John James (b. 1868), and Stephen Francis (b. 1870).
In 1871, the family moved to Johnson County, Iowa where they farmed and raised livestock. During their last years, Timothy Marsh and wife Joanna lived in Coralville, Iowa. He died on March 15, 1915 and was returned to Canada for the burial (Ancestry Library; Lovetinsky et al., p. 100).
