Emma (Weiss) and husband William Goss with their grandchildren Linda Marie and Richard, Jr. Linda sits on her grandmother's lap, while Richard is held by William, who stands next to his wife's chair. They appear to be in a backyard; the backs of other houses can be seen behind them, as well as a clothesline.

William Goss was born in Iowa City, Iowa to Michael and Elizabeth (Katzenmeyer) Goss on March 2, 1882. Emma Weiss was born to Frank and Mary (Stewart) Weiss in Riverside, Iowa on April 2, 1891. They married on July 15, 1915 and moved to First Avenue in Coralville one year later. They had four children: Walter (b. 1916), Raymond (b. 1919), Richard "Dick" (b. 1924), and Betty (b.1932) (Iowa City Press-Citizen, 1957; Iowa City Press-Citizen, 1959).

William worked for the Coralville Power Plant before getting an position at the University Heating Plant, where he stayed until his retirement. He died on August 31, 1959, two years after Emma's death on December of 1957.

Linda Marie and Richard, Jr. were the children of Richard "Dick" and Imelda G. (Miltner) Goss. The couple had two more children: Thomas and Janet (Lovetinsky et al., p. 104).

This photograph was dated using Richard Goss, Jr.'s obituary in the Iowa City Press-Citizen. The article stated he was born on July 25, 1950 (1973).
