A formal group photograph of the Iowa City Soldier's Aid Society of the Civil War. A painted background of curtains, a column, and a pitcher can be seen behind them. This women's group would meet to sew and knit for the soldiers and veterans of the American Civil War. Members of the group included Elizabeth Dennis and Jane Kirkwood, Governor Samuel Kirkwood's wife (not pictured).
