Leslie Miller presents Little League trophies, 1963-1964

Leslie Miller, Past-President of the Coralville Optimist Club, shakes the hand of a Little League baseball player Rick Pionkowski as he hands him a trophy. The backs of two other baseball players can be seen on the left side of image, the words "Coralville Optimist" written on their white uniforms. A table of trophies is set up next to Leslie; one for every team member.

Little League started in Coralville in 1957/1958; the Optimist Club began sponsoring the League in 1959 (Brandstatter; Lovetinsky et al., p. 73-74; Walch, p. 89).
