Description
Clarence H. Wilson served on the City Council starting in 1962. During his second term, Mayor Robert Schreffler suffered a fatal heart attack. Wilson was chosen to step in to finish the term. He was re-elected as Mayor of Coralville for three terms, ending in 1971. Wilson was self-employed, owning and managing C.H.Wilson Transport, Inc.
As Mayor, Schreffler saw the size of the city of Coralville double and the population triple. City services, such as the library, swimming pool, bus service, water plant, and sewage disposal plant, were also added.
Wilson was born on May 1, 1911 to Fred and Emma (Lansing) Wilson near Casey, Iowa. On March 26, 1932, he married Regina Eddy. Ten years later, they moved to Coralville. They adopted one son, named Jackie (Lovetinsky et al., p. 80-81).
