William L. Miller, undated
Dublin Core
Description
William L. Miller sits in a rocking chair outside on the lawn, a smoking pipe balanced in his hands. He wears a long sleeved shirt, a vest, and tailored pants. A house sits behind him, flower pots on the front porch. The grass is patchy, and an area is covered in shade from a tree. The photograph itself is damaged; a crumpled hole where a pin or nail went through is near the center top.
William Miller was born to Valentine and Minna (Zeisler) Miller on May 27, 1863. He married Olivette "Ollie" Laufer in 1893 in Muscatine, Iowa (Ancestry Library). They had one daughter, Grace.
William worked with his father in the mills before opening a poultry and egg store in Iowa City. He and his brother Fred also owned a feed store as partners. It was named the W. & F. Miller Feed Store and located across the street from his other store. He passed away in August of 1927 (Lest We Forget, pg. 115).
