Loran I. Conklin was born in November of 1859. His wife, Mary A. Kohl, was born December 30, 1862. They had eight children: C.L. "Laddie", Loran Kohl (b. 1892), Otis, Pearl, Demis, James, O.F., and Myrtle. Loran I. farmed on a plot north of Coralville until his death in May of 1936. Mary died earlier in December of 1930. The property was later owned by River Products Company (Lovetinsky et al., p. 97).
