Pirl Wineke was born on August 8, 1893 to John, Sr and Josephine (Roegler) Wineke near West Branch, Iowa. Maude Adair was born on January 11, 1893 to Charles and Kate (Kondora) Adair of Iowa City, Iowa. They married on December 17, 1912, and moved to Coralville in the early 1930s.

Pirl worked as a policeman for the city of Coralville in 1939. Afterward, he worked street maintenance with his brother John, as well as maintained the cemetery. Pirl passed away on 1958; Maude followed him in death two years later in 1960.

Maude (Adair) Wineke was the younger sister of May (Adair) Wineke. May married Pirl's brother John in 1907. Mable was John and May's eldest daughter; she was born on January 28, 1909. On June 2, 1926, Mable married Charles Sladek. She died at the age of 92 on May 13, 2001 (Lovetinsky et al., p. 130; Ancestry Library).
